The Optimal and Safe Doses of Anavar

Anavar or oxandrolone is a mild anabolic steroid which has been proven to have many uses beyond bodybuilding and the creation and maintenance of lean muscle. It is a synthetic anabolic steroid derivative of dihydrotestosterone or DHT.

Man with a bar weights Anavar first came onto the market in 1964 and was manufactured by a company called Searle Laboratories. In the medical community, it is used for AIDS patients, cancer patients, and the elderly to aid in reversing wasting syndrome.

It is also widely used because it is metabolized by the kidney instead of the liver and, as such, it can be used by more patients without as much worry for those with extensive liver injury. Another important function of Anavar is to help patients regain weight after surgery, chronic infection, and after prolonged corticosteroid use. In addition, it has been used to relieve bone pain associated with osteoporosis. The generally accepted dose for medical use is 2.5 to 20 mg a day usually up to 2 to 4 weeks although in some cases, it has been used for up to 3 months.

The Many Advantages of Using Anavar

Anavar is considered a weak steroid as it is rarely used alone to produce mass building effects. In fact, it is usually used in stacking with other steroids to get optimal effects. In some studies, it has been proven to be superior to Anavartestosterone in eliminating visceral and abdominal fat in obese and older men. However, this effect in bodybuilders is more dose dependent than an absolute occurrence.

It has also proven to be effective at low doses for cutting in preparation for a competition than other anabolic steroids. The added positive benefit of using Anavar over other steroids is that it does not cause much hair loss. In addition, it can help to improve respiratory function and heal cutaneous wounds.

Anavar can significantly increase effects of a cutting cycle owing partly to its effect at combining with the body’s natural testosterone in order to produce a synergistic effect. In other anabolic steroids, in contrast, testosterone has been shown to be suppressed.

The Optimum Dosage for Women

For women, Anavar is a highly effective steroid as it has minimal virilising effects with low androgenic potential. Because of its low androgenic potential, it causes virtually no fluid retention or bloating.

Virilising effects are demonstrated by a deepening of the voice, increased growth of body hair, and enlargement of the clitoris.

Doses of 5 to 10 mg have been shown to be most effective for women at a maximum cycle length of 4 to 6 weeks. Doses up to 20 mg have been used successfully in some women, but doses exceeding that have eventually led to virilising effects. At the initiation phase of Anavar use, it is wise to start doses in the lower range of 5 mg.

Anavar has a half-life of 9 hours which is the time it takes for a drug to be metabolized to fifty percent its original strength. Therefore, twice daily dosing is highly effective.

The Optimum Dosage for Men

For men, the average dose of Anavar is 50 to 80 mg a day. In fact, it has been proven that Anavar is safe in dosages up to 100 mg a day. It is generally not used in off season as a bulking aid for most bodybuilders. In contrast, it is widely used during a cutting cycle with superior results as compared to other steroids.

Even doses as low as 30 mg have been proven to improve athletic performance.

One of the downsides to the use of Anavar however is its cost. The average cost per tablet is $2 to $5 which may render it cost prohibitive for many people. It has also been observed that doses exceeding 100 mg show minimal additional effects in a cutting cycle for most athletes.

Those Who Cannot Use Anavar

It is important to keep in mind that Anavar is not to be used by those who have heart problems such as those who have experienced angina, heart attacks, or other heart related complications. In addition, its use is not recommended in those who have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or those with liver or kidney problems.

It is also not recommended to use for women who are looking to get or already are pregnant. Anavar has a probability, although low, to be abused. Side effects of an overdose or abuse include vomiting, nausea, unusual fatigue, and either a decrease or increase in sexual libido. In addition, abuse and overdose patterns may cause an increase in liver enzymes and bilirubin.
